The salaried man had a narrow escape, by Yoshikazu Ebisu
It is a true shame that Ebisu-sensei’s books can’t be found in a language which isn’t japanese. I found this one for 1€ in a second-hand bookstore. Just from looking at the pictures, it’s hilarious.
Klub Zin, by various artists.
If after reading Kus #25 you were left wanting more manga made in the West (and you should), this international anthology is exactly what you need. Top quality stuff from all over the globe.
A zoo in winter, by Jiro Taniguchi
I’m not a great fan of Taniguchi, but I love to read manga about mangaka. This one follows an aspiring artist working as an assistant during the 1960s.
Viaggio a Tokyo, by Vincenzo Filosa
If there’s such thing as Gaijin-Gekiga, this book was the first to ever be published. There’s nothing I can say about it which hasn’t been said already, especially in an italian website. I will only add that if I lived inside “Bakuman”, Vincenzo Filosa would be my number 1, most stimulating rival. I can’t wait for a new book by him.
Tokyo Alien Bros, by Shinzo Keigoh
Keigoh is arguably in the top-3 of my favourite mangaka of my own generation, and very prolific. I think soon he will be published in France, which is great news.
